www.aten.life is a transdisciplinary exploration of the Solar System rooted in performance artist Daniel Alexander Jones’s longstanding practice of altar building. Led by Jones’s performance ‘altar-ego” Jomama Jones, ATEN takes the form of a digital archive including music, videos, text, conversations, and provocations/invitations for visitors to engage the ideas raised and extend them. All songs were written by Jones with Josh Quat; the videos were created in collaboration with filmmaker Nicolas Savignano, except for Hymn to thenChild of Venus which was conceived and directed by Adelina Anthony. For Quills Fest we will be introducing folks to the site, but also sharing the premiere of the feature edit of the music videos which will follow the album order for the songs.
ALTAR NO. 1 ATEN was produced by CalArts Center for New Performance, and was commissioned by the Public Theater with support from New York Live Arts. Additional funding by NEFA.
